Silver Ferns

Well today I went to my first international sporting event.  At it was Netball! lol.  I haven’t seen a game of netball in a loooonnnngggg time, or played it for even longer!   Kiwi girl who I work with invited me, and I thought what the heck.  I am glad she invited me along actually as I haven’t really done anything like that since I have been here, so being ‘dragged’ along was great.  Also got to hang out with some other kiwis and for once didn’t feel like the only kiwi in the village.  Actually it has been great working with her anyway and not having that feeling.

So play began at 5pm and we got to out seats just as the first whistle blew.  We were sat right at the front virtually, behind the team.  So probably did make it onto some random TV coverage…eekkk…courtside

Well the Silver Ferns got on the board fairly quickly.  Leading strongly throughout.  Obviously the kiwis were outnumbered by the english in the crowd, but we hollered for all we were worth!  Sadly the lack of sportsmanship from the English crowd did annoy me at some points, booing and hissing when the Ferns scored.  No need for it.  England made a good comeback in the last quarter and the game ended up with a final score of 42 – 40 to the Silver Ferns! 🙂

I was thinking, yeah I could get back into Netball, but then watching the game you notice all the ankles are strapped, at the end of the game icepacks straight onto the knees as well.  I am now thinking that with my dodgy ankle not a good idea! lol.

The NZ team were all TALL, forgot how tall netball players can be, and tanned!

Sponsered by New World which was funnily enough found emblazoned across their arse…lol.

All in all, a great evening, well done the Silver Ferns.

Winners!
