I have been taken on 2 different adventures this weekend, and guess what? The Big One took me out during the evening! I didn’t have to worry about the bright sun and the lack of sunglasses at all! Was brilliant! First adventure was something called Light Night and the other was Spellbound.
Light Night was in Leeds. The Big One took me and the child do this event. Basically it seemed to consist of lots of light stuff happening. We met up with some other people that the big one knows.
I started the evening meeting up with a little robot who was also on an adventure. There seemed to be lots of these little robots around Leeds, something about the march of the robots was going on. They were all cute but obviously this little guy actually spent time with me so he was the best of them all. He had a little light in his belly as well. I wish I could have a little light in my belly would make it feel fuller than it normally does. Suppose I should be grateful that for once the Big One didn’t take me out in bright sunshine!
There were some disturbing sights as well.
Next stop was in the gallery where there were various things happening. Was a bit hot for us all! I in particular liked this sculpture that was made from old photo slides. People were making little boxes to add to this sculpture. I wanted to make one as well, but they had ran out of slides for me to make one. Just typical.
After looking at these slides I was taken for another wander. I enjoyed looking at the lovely ladies, and the made the big one look like the little one, they were giants!
There were lots of lights all over the place to look at as well. Buildings had light displays all over them as well, some of them were just lights and others were actual pictures.
Some of the big ones were getting hungry at this point, I know the feeling! Food was gathered and we wandered up to another spot for nibbling, sitting and looking at different lights!
Another sight that was found was a weird face. I am sure it was just the building playing tricks on us all, but one of the big one’s friends seemed very excited by it.
Some of the big one’s friends were getting tired at this point, not me of course since this is the time I like to up of course. No one was listening to me though, as usual. So they all decided to start heading back towards the car. However we did see some more interesting sights. It wasn’t all over for the night.
The teddy wouldn’t let me join him in his rocking though! Very disappointing!
This flying machine on the other hand was so interesting to look at, there was an egg getting fried underneath as he moved up and down. There was a sleeping cat and a teddy bear in a balloon.
We then ended up at a Zombie dinner party! One of the Zombies decided that I looked good to eat. Thankfully the big one didn’t just ignore my pleas for help this time and rescued me from her clutches before she could nibble on my brains! The night ended with a lovely cuddle on some fluffy cushions.
Yay another night time event for me! Two nights in a row as well, the big one is trying to spoil me, or is she lulling me into a false sense of security so that she pounce when I least expect it? I will worry about that another time. I don’t know if I have mentioned it before but the town that the big one lives in has this big giant fountain in the middle of the town centre. The fountain is pretty impressive when it is running, they also can drain it though and hold big events there as well. Last night they held an event that a dance group known as Spellbound were doing. It was the first one of the autumn season. The main show didn’t start until 7.30, but there was other things to see before the show started.
This man/slash robot had a very interesting bike. I wanted to sit on it but he wouldn’t let me. However he did hold me and let me pose with him. He was very curious at first and not sure he knew what I was. I am getting used to that here though. Quite often I am just called a teddy! I am not a teddy, but they get all confused if I say I am a kiwi! I think they think I am a fruit of some kind! Crazy English folk I tell you! After we saw this cyborg on a bike we saw some different light dancers from the night before. These ones had lights as well, but they played drums and weren’t giants. They were good though, even if they did try and run us over at one point.
After the traumatic experience of getting run over I got a kiss though. Finally one of the big one’s friends who cares for me!
The show finally started. They were doing the Rama and Sita story. They had a screen which they danced behind so we could only see their silhouettes, was quite magical. There was a narrator telling the story of Rama and Sita as they danced as well. For those of who don’t know the story Rama was the most perfect man and his wife Sita was the most perfect women. His father decides to make him the crown prince, his wife doesn’t like that idea basically and wants her son to be made the crown prince. She demands that Rama is sent into exile. Into exile he goes for 14 years, his wife Sita joins him and his younger brother Lakshmana. While in exile Ravana the evil decides he wants Sita for his wife. Using magic he lures Rama away from Sita, and then Lakshmana as well. While they are away he steals Sita to his palace. When Rama and Lakshmana return they find Sita gone. Hanuman the monkey king manages to find Sita and leads Rama to her. A great battle ensues, which Rama wins. Sita and Rama are obviously reunited. Celebrations occur and the lighting of divas now happen each year at Diwali to celebrate. *please note I am but a humble kiwi and this is just a quick retelling of the story for those who have never heard it.*
Anyway they danced this story and fireworks were let off during the story as well. It was lovely to watch and I enjoyed it.
I am hoping that as Autumn is here and the sun is going down that I won’t have to worry about the lack of sunglasses for too much longer. I enjoyed these two days of adventures and hope that there will be more winter adventures.
